i heart halloween

Halloween is by far my favorite holiday.

Making funny homemade costumes, getting dressed up, staying up late, and eating candy-- what's not to love?
This year I had to spend it working the night shift in the Emergency Room at Children's Memorial Hospital, but I guess I techinically still got to do all of the afore-mentioned Halloween activities. And I also managed to convince my unsuspecting co-residents Clara and Kathy to join me in a group costume. Here we are dressed as Care Bears...in costumes I whipped up one morning post-night shift (thus, please excuse my sad, sleepy attempt at sewing bear ears).

My lucky boyfriend, Jim, (a urology resident) managed to get the weekend off work so he is celebrating the holiday with good friends of ours in the legendary Halloween mecca that is Madison, Wisconsin. (I am trying not to be too jealous. ) We did get to have some fall fun together last weekend though- we went to a bonafide pumpkin farm complete with apple cider donuts, petting zoo, and of course, a corn maze. Unfortunately it was kind of late in the season for pumpkin picking, but the local grocery store was able to help us out with these beauties for decorating:
Can you guess which pumpkin was made by the surgeon and which was made by the pediatrician?

hello, world...remember me?

Dear Friends and Family,

I know I have been a bad bunny. If I owed a dollar for every phone call and email I failed to return in a timely manner, I would have accumulated a debt by now that would rival my medical school loans. But I am vowing to be better at keeping in touch. Given my track record with email writing, it is *highly* doubtful that I will be any more successful at blogging. But since it is sort of crafty and fun, maybe, just maybe, I will be motivated to post occasionally. A girl can dream, right?

Love,
Chrissy
